AI-Driven Microfinance for Climate-Resilient, Disaster-Ready Low-Income Housing Delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa’s low-income housing deficit is widening under urbanisation and climate pressure, while conventional microfinance remains constrained by thin credit histories and an absence of hazard data. This paper makes the case for AI-driven microfinance — alternative-data credit scoring, satellite-informed risk modelling, and predictive analytics — while arguing that technical innovation alone is insufficient without transparent, multi-stakeholder governance. It closes with a four-point research and policy agenda for institutions, regulators, and financiers.
